Cette monnaie commémore les personnes mortes et blessées lors du putsch militaire qui eut lieu dans la nuit du 15 au 16 juillet 2016. Cette tentative de putsch attribuée à des militaires gülenistes visait à renverser le président turc Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Ce dernier parvient à mobiliser ses partisans et à conserver le pouvoir. Par la suite une immense purge touche l’armée mais aussi de très nombreuses administrations publiques, et entraîne l’interdiction et la fermeture de nombreux médias.
This coin commemorates the people killed and injured during the military coup that took place on the night of July 15-16, 2016. This attempted coup, attributed to Gülenist military personnel, aimed to overthrow Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Erdoğan managed to mobilize his supporters and retain power. Subsequently, a massive purge affected the army as well as many public administrations, and led to the banning and closure of numerous media outlets.
