La symbolique de l’eau qui irrigue et fertilise est très fréquente sur les jetons du Trésor royal. L’eau qui s’écoule est censée symboliser le rôle même de l’administration et l’idée est la même que celle fréquemment employée des rayons qui émanent du soleil.

TRÉSOR ROYAL
I primi re capetingi regolarono da soli i loro affari personali chiamando un cancelliere e quattro ministri della casa del re: il siniscalco, il conestabile, il gran Bouteiller e il gran ciambellano. Il Grand Bouteiller gestiva il tesoro reale con il Grand Chambrier. Sotto Filippo IV compare la Camera dei Conti e nel 1311 il Sovrintendente alle Finanze è coadiuvato da un Tesoriere. Il Tesoro Reale e il Tesoro Pubblico sono tuttavia confusi fino a Carlo V. Sotto Carlo VII, i Tesorieri vengono portati a quattro e sono incaricati di stabilire il bilancio delle entrate. Sotto Francesco I, il regno era diviso in sedici giurisdizioni con a capo un Ricevitore Generale e un Tesoriere del Risparmio che centralizzava il tutto..
