THAILANDIA - RAMA V (Chulalongkorn)
(1869-1910)
La Thailandia o il Siam sfuggì alla colonizzazione nel XIX secolo a causa delle rivalità tra francesi e inglesi. Chulalongkorn o Rama V (1853-1910) dovette però rinunciare alla riva sinistra del Mekong a favore della Francia. Rama V ha riformato il suo paese abolendo la schiavitù e riorganizzando l'amministrazione, la giustizia e l'esercito.
