Exemplaire sur un flan très large avec les grènetis complets des deux côtés, extrêmement épais, bien centré. Beau portrait de haut relief. Joli revers. Patine vert noir, granuleuse et légèrement piquée

Commento

Cassure de coin au revers sur le dauphin à gauche. La chronologie de cette litra est encore aujourd’hui discutée. Placée par certains auteurs sous Timoléon (344-317 avant J.-C.) d’autres en remontent la datation à la fin de la Démocratie et l’instauration de la tyrannie de Denys l’Ancien (405-367 avant J.-C.). L’exemplaire de MONNAIES 36, n° 54 s’est vendu 250€ en TTB avec sept offres.
Die break on the reverse on the dolphin on the left. The chronology of this litra is still debated today. Placed by some authors under Timoleon (344-317 BC), others date it back to the end of Democracy and the establishment of the tyranny of Dionysius the Elder (405-367 BC).
