Henri Ier (né en 1008 - mort le 4 août 1060 à Vitry-aux-Loges, près d'Orléans), roi des Francs de 1031 à 1060.
Troisième roi de la dynastie dite des Capétiens directs, il est le fils de Robert le Pieux et de Constance d’Arles.
Sacré roi du vivant de son père le 14 mai 1027 à Reims, il lui succède en 1031 mais doit faire face à l'hostilité de sa mère et des grands vassaux qui veulent faire monter son frère cadet Robert sur le trône. Henri Ier obtient l'appui de l'empereur romain germanique Conrad II et surtout celui du duc de Normandie Robert le Magnifique, mais pour obtenir la paix, il doit céder à son frère le duché de Bourgogne en apanage. Mais le comte Eudes II de Blois ne se soumet pas pour autant, et soutient Eudes (v. 1013-v. 1057/1059), autre frère d'Henri Ier, mais vaincu, ce dernier est assigné à résidence à Orléans.
Suite au départ en 1035 pour la Terre sainte de Robert le Magnifique, Henri Ier devient le tuteur de son fils, le futur Guillaume Ier, duc de Normandie. Quand la nouvelle de la mort de Robert lui parvient, il soutient le jeune duc contre les seigneurs de Normandie qui lui sont hostiles. Ensemble, ils les combattent et les défont à la bataille du Val-ès-Dunes en 1047. La montée en puissance du duc inquiète le roi de France qui se brouille avec Guillaume Ier. Ce dernier le vainc à Mortemer en 1054, puis quatre ans plus tard à Varaville.

Henry I obtained the support of the Holy Roman Emperor Conrad II and especially that of the Duke of Normandy Robert the Magnificent, but to obtain peace, he had to cede the Duchy of Burgundy to his brother as an appanage.. But Count Eudes II of Blois did not submit, and supported Eudes (v. 1013-v. 1057/1059), another brother of Henry I, but defeated, the latter was placed under house arrest in Orléans.
Following Robert the Magnificent's departure for the Holy Land in 1035, Henry I became the tutor of his son, the future William I, Duke of Normandy.. When news of Robert's death reached him, he supported the young duke against the lords of Normandy who were hostile to him.. Together, they fought and defeated them at the Battle of Val-ès-Dunes in 1047.. The Duke's rise to power worried the King of France, who fell out with William I.. The latter defeated him at Mortemer in 1054, then four years later at Varaville.

Questa serie è stata incisa da Thomas Bernard ed è interrotta, per questo autore, dal segno di Luigi XIV. I seguenti gettoni sono incisi da Nicolas Gatteaux per Luigi XV, Duvivier per Luigi XVI, Puymaurin e Gayrard per Luigi XVII, Puymaurin e Depaulis per Luigi XVIII. La serie è spesso attribuita a Jean Dassier sulla fede di Forrer ma corregge la sua affermazione nel suo volume VIII e conferma gli archivi della Monnaie de Paris che specificano che la serie è stata commissionata da Monsieur de Launay. Esistono diverse emissioni, in rame o ottone, di peso variabile ma coerenti per serie, le matrici di rovescio a volte sono varie. La classificazione dei re avviene secondo l'uso antico, in tre razze successive. Notiamo l'esistenza di un token molto raro che spiega le sigle che abbiamo visto solo in una serie in ottone. La confezione di questa serie era in un tubo di legno. Ovviamente è molto difficile ricostruirlo e va notato che i diversi gettoni hanno rarità molto diverse, essendo stati probabilmente acquistati a pezzi dal pubblico, favorendo i buoni re. Esiste almeno una serie in argento, forse apocrifa, completata fino a Napoleone III con gettoni per tutti i regimi successivi, compresa la Rivoluzione e Napoleone I, vedi MONNAIES 28, n° 1395.
