Dans la nouvelle édition de l’ouvrage d’O. Hoover (HGCS 3/1, n° 958) ce type est attribué à Alexandre IV, le fils posthume d’Alexandre le Grand et de Roxane. Ce type particulier attribué à Salamine de Chypre aurait été frappé sous l’autorité de Nicocréon, dernier roi de Salamine (331-311 avant J.-C..

Alexandre è il figlio di Alexandre III e Roxane. Alla morte del padre, i nobili macedoni gli preferirono lo zio, fratellastro di Alessandro, Philippe Arrhidée, per quanto ingenuo. Dopo l'assassinio di quest'ultimo, il figlio di Alexandre e sua madre saranno vittime degli appetiti degli epigoni che vogliono mantenere la finzione dell'Impero pur volendo impadronirsi della realtà del potere. I profughi con Cassandre, Roxane e Alexandre IV furono infine assassinati nel 310-309 a.C..
