Commento

Ce quinaire pose un problème chronologique. Le revers a été copié pour frapper un petit bronze des Médiomatriques (LT. 8972). Normalement, le bronze ne devrait pas copier le quinaire ou le denier de Caton d’Utique, mais celui de son père, Marcus Porcius Cato, qui fut frappé en 89 avant J.-C. (RCV. 247), exactement avec la même typologie.
This quinary poses a chronological problem. The reverse was copied to strike a small bronze of the Mediomatrici (LT. 8972). Normally, the bronze should not copy the quinary or denarius of Cato of Utica, but that of his father, Marcus Porcius Cato, which was struck in 89 BC (RCV. 247), with exactly the same typology
