Commento
Cf. http://www.saint-denis.culture.fr/fr/1_3a4_ville.htm.
This type of coin is attributed to Antrain in the main reference works. Some authors have proposed Saint-Denis. During the reign of Pepin (751-768), a mint still operated in the monastery of Saint-Denis, as seems to be evidenced by the proof of monetary dies found in the filling of the aqueduct trench.. The irregularly shaped lead plate bears the raised imprint of the two dies that a \\\"cutter\\\" tested before striking the coins.. The dies correspond to a denarius which bears on the obverse the monogram RP (rex Pippinus) and, on the reverse on three lines, the legend AVT/TRA/NO, the development of which, in antistitio regio Dionusiaco (\\\"by the act of the royal abbey of Saint-Denis\\\"), remains controversial.. The name Auttramnus has also been proposed. . .
Cf. http://www. Saint-Denis. culture. fr/fr/1_3a4_ville. htm. Due to the lack of publication with sufficiently good photographs, no corner bonding appears to be observable.. A example in much poorer condition, but of the same type, was offered in the Inumis 9 sale, no. 362 and remained unsold at €3,500.. The two examples from the famous Chwartz collection were sold for €9,800 respectively (for the example from the A collection. Trampitsch) and €3,800 for the other
