Louis Le Peletier de Morfontaine, marquis de Montmélian (1730-1799) est l'avant-dernier prévôt des marchands de Paris.
On a donné son nom à une rue du 9e arrondissement de Paris, la rue Le Peletier, créée en 1786, où plus tard fut construit l'opéra Le Peletier - qui fut la salle d'opéra de Paris de 1821 à 1873 avant l'opéra Garnier - et où se trouve depuis 1911 la station de métro Le Peletier.
Sa carrière passe par # Maître des requêtes, en 1754-1773 ;
# Intendant de La Rochelle, en 1764 ;
# puis de Soissons, en 1765-1784 ;
# Conseiller d'État, en 1783 ;
# Prévôt des marchands de Paris, en 1784 ; il démissionna de son poste et fut remplacé, le 28 avril 1789, par Jacques de Flesselles (jusqu'au 14 juillet, date où celui-ci fut tué et où la fonction de prévôt des marchands fut supprimée) ;
# Grand trésorier-commandeur du Saint-Esprit, en 1787-1790

Louis Le Peletier de Morfontaine, Marquis de Montmélian (1730-1799) was the penultimate provost of the merchants of Paris. A street in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, Rue Le Peletier, was named after him. It was created in 1786 and was later the site of the Le Peletier Opera House - which was the Paris opera house from 1821 to 1873 before the Garnier Opera - and where the Le Peletier metro station has been located since 1911.
