Claude Santeul était un riche marchand de fer qui épousa Madeleine Bouchet et eut quinze enfants.
Les échevins, au nombre de quatre, joints à trois officiers et au prévôt des marchands, forment le Bureau de Ville, c'est à dire un des principaux rouages de l'administration municipale.
