Ce type semble plus ancien et appartiendrait aux premières émissions de la série pour la cité. Semble de même coin de revers que l’exemplaire de la collection von Aulock (SNG. Aulock, n° 6832, pl. 235) tandis que le droit est proche de l’exemplaire de la même collection (n° 6831).

Sinope, colonia di Mileto, fu fondata nel VII secolo aC Situata sulla costa settentrionale di Pont-Euxin, città marittima, era uno dei porti più importanti della regione. L'introduzione del nuovo tipo con la testa della ninfa Sinope corrisponde all'instaurazione del regime democratico a Sinope nel 453 aC ad opera degli Ateniesi. Il satrapo Datames si impadronì di Sinope intorno al 375 a.C.
