Commento
Many Arab and Indian trading posts existed in Mozambique before the expeditions of Vasco da Gama in 1498 and then Lourenço Marques in 1544. The latter established trading posts and built forts. Portuguese colonization lasted five centuries and, as in all Portuguese-speaking African countries, after a long colonial war, Mozambique became independent after the “Carnation Revolution”, independence proclaimed on June 25, 1975.
