“L’étude historique du « Rob de Laffecteur », qui connut longtemps une faveur très grande, grâce à la confusion des théories, sera en quelque sorte le reflet des reculs doctrinaux en vénéréologie dont fut témoin le 19e siècle, même en sa dernière moitié, puisqu’en 1858, vingt ans après les découvertes de Philippe Ricord, il y avait encore des vénérologues qui croyaient à l’identité du virus de la blennorragie et de la syphilis.”
