L’original de cet exemplaire est également mentionné dans l’ouvrage “Catalogue des coins du cabinet de la monnaie royale des médailles” du Cabinet de la Monnaie Royale des Médailles (PARIS), p.16 n°75. Concernant cet exemplaire, il est difficile de le dater sans poinçon sur la tranche. Nous le définissons donc comme une refrappe moderne. L’original fut, quant à lui, réalisé par Pierre Regnier pour l’avers et Nicolas Briot pour le revers. Des informations plus précises sont lisibles dans l’ouvrage de Mark Jones.

Cronistoria
MARIE DE MÉDICIS
(1573-1642)
Maria de' Medici (1573-1642), figlia del Granduca di Toscana Francesco, sposò Enrico IV il 17 dicembre 1600 a Lione. Marie non fu incoronata fino al 13 maggio 1610, il giorno prima della morte di Enrico IV. Luigi XIII, nato il 27 settembre 1601, era allora minorenne. Maria fu dichiarata reggente e Luigi fu incoronato il 17 ottobre 1610. Il 20 novembre 1614 fu dichiarato maggiorenne, ma lasciò il governo alla madre che convocò gli Stati Generali il 27 ottobre 1614. Quando Concini, il Maresciallo di Ancre, venne assassinata il 24 aprile 1617, la regina perse la reggenza e fu esiliata a Blois. Tornò in grazia attraverso Richelieu nel 1619. Maria de Medici insorse nuovamente contro suo figlio nel 1620 e prese parte alla giornata dei Dupes nel novembre 1630 per costringere il re a separarsi da Richelieu. Il re sceglie il ministro contro sua madre. Lasciò la Francia nel 1631 per non tornare mai più, si rifugiò in Olanda e morì in esilio a Colonia il 3 luglio 1642..
