Commento
Ce jeton n’était signalé qu’en cuivre doré par Feuardent. Le fort de Leucate fut assiégé par les Espagnols en 1590 et 1637. Les dernières améliorations sont confiées à Pierre de Conti, seigneur d'Argencourt, en 1640 sur l'ordre de Richelieu. Sous le règne de Louis XIV, la forteresse devenue inutile sera rasée en mai 1665. Ce jeton commémore certainement la résistance de ce fort en 1637.
This token was only reported in gilded copper by Feuardent. The fort of Leucate was besieged by the Spanish in 1590 and 1637. The final improvements were entrusted to Pierre de Conti, Lord of Argencourt, in 1640 on the orders of Richelieu. Under the reign of Louis XIV, the fortress, which had become useless, was razed in May 1665. This token certainly commemorates the resistance of this fort in 1637.

LUIGI XIII IL GIUSTO

Luigi XIII nacque il 27 settembre 1601. Divenne re dopo l'assassinio di Enrico IV il 14 maggio 1610 e fu incoronato il 17 ottobre 1610. Durante la sua minore età, la reggenza fu affidata a Maria de' Medici. Sully si dimise nel 1611, Concini divenne Consigliere della Regina e fu nominato Maresciallo di Francia nel 1613. La rivolta dei Grandi costringe la Regina a convocare gli Stati Generali nel 1614, l'ultima volta prima della Rivoluzione. Il re divenne maggiorenne all'età di 13 anni e sposò Anna d'Austria (1601-1666) il 28 novembre 1615. Richelieu entrò nel Consiglio nel 1616 su richiesta di Concini che fu assassinato il 24 aprile 1617 dal capitano della guardie, Vitry. Luigi XIII esiliò sua madre a Blois poi si riconciliò con lei, grazie a Richelieu, nel 1619 ma Marie si ribellò nuovamente nel 1620. Nel 1621, de Luynes, amico di Luigi XIII, fu nominato conestabile di Francia. Richelieu viene nominato cardinale nel 1622 ed entra nel Concilio, è primo ministro nel 1624.
