Poitou, Saintonge et Angoumois... François de Villemontée fut marié avec Catherine de Thumery. Après s'être ruiné à son intendance, François de Villemontée mit sa femme au couvent et se fit prêtre. Avec l'influence de Le Tellier, il obtint l'évêché de Saint Malo.

L'AUNIS ET LA ROCHELLE
Tra Poitou e Saintonge, Aunis ha come capoluogo La Rochelle e comprende anche le città di Brouage e Rochefort. Possesso dei Plantageneti, fu preso nel 1224 poi perso durante il Trattato di Brétigny (1360). Aunis si ribella poco dopo e si dona al re Carlo V. È uno dei bastioni del protestantesimo nel XVI secolo e all'inizio del XVII secolo fino alla presa di La Rochelle nel 1628.
