Commento

Cet exemplaire ne présente pas de poinçon sur la tranche bien qu’il semble s’agir d’une refrappe. C’est pourquoi nous classons cet exemplaire en tant que refrappe. L’étude de la tranche nous laisse sceptique quant à la nature du métal, d’où notre choix pour le bronze argenté.
Ce jeton a été frappé et distribué pour la création de l'Ordre de la Couronne de fer, le 5 juin 1805. Cette distinction, à l’image de la Légion d’Honneur en France, permettait “d’assurer par des témoignages d’honneur, une digne récompense aux services rendus à la Couronne tant dans la carrière des armes que dans celle de l’administration, de la magistrature, des lettres et des arts”. This example does not have a hallmark on the edge although it appears to be a re-strike. This is why we classify this example as a re-strike. Studying the edge leaves us skeptical about the nature of the metal, hence our choice for silver-plated bronze. This token was struck and distributed for the creation of the Order of the Iron Crown, on June 5, 1805.
