Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale, légèrement décentré. Beau droit. Usure superficielle. Joli revers bien venu à la frappe, légèrement décentré sur la légende. Belle patine de collection ancienne avec des reflets dorés

Pour le monnayage de Dyrrachium, nous avons d’après les travaux de Ceka en 1972, 461 types de drachmes différents en fonction des noms associés. Le magistrat Xénon est associé à onze noms (Ceka n° 353 à 363). Le magistrat du revers est associé à seize noms qui se trouvent au droit (Ceka n° 49, 97, 104, 121, 126, 128, 215, 229, 247, 261, 283, 314, 328, 362, 371, 429).

Cronistoria
ILIRIA - DIRRACHIO
(III - I secolo a.C.)
Epidamnos, colonia di Corcyra fu fondata nel 623 aC La città era la capitale dei Dyrrachi. Nel 435 a.C. scoppiò un conflitto tra Durazzo e Corinto, che portò alla guerra del Peloponneso. Fu anche in questo periodo che la città cambiò nome per diventare Dyrrachium invece di Epidamnos. A metà del IV secolo aC la città entrò nell'orbita corinzia e coniò il tipo corinzio. Nel 312 a.C. Glaucia, re degli Illiri, conquistò la città con l'aiuto dei Corcirei. Intorno al 280 aC, Dyrrachium era nell'orbita macedone di Tolomeo Ceraunos. La città fu poi rovinata dalle tribù illiriche e alla fine passò sotto il protettorato romano nel 229 aC Quando i romani iniziarono ad occupare l'area alla fine del III secolo aC, ribattezzarono la città con il nome di Dyrrhachium. Divenne alla fine della Repubblica il porto più importante per il commercio con l'Italia da Brindisium.
