Potin très intéressant, d’un type rare, avec un droit et un revers un peu confus, mais relativement bien venus. Patine sombre et brillante, assez homogène

Commento

Ces potins sont très rares. Bien que souvent associés ou confondus avec les potins suessions aux animaux affrontés, ils en sont très différents et plus variés.

GALLIA BELGICA - MELDI (Regione di Meaux)

I Meldes sono citati una sola volta nell'opera di Cesare. Questo piccolo popolo viveva tra la Senna e la Marna nella pianura di Brie con Meaux come capitale. I Melde si emanciparono tardi dalla tutela dei Suessioni e dei Remi al tempo delle guerre galliche. Divenuti indipendenti nel 57 aC, i Meldes scelsero di allearsi con i Romani. Cesare fece costruire sessanta navi dai Meldes, nel 55 a.C., per la spedizione in Bretagna. Cesare (BG. V, 5).
