À l’occasion des 80 ans de l’appel du 18 juin 1940, du 130ème anniversaire de la naissance de Charles de Gaulle et du 50ème anniversaire de sa mort, cette monnaie commémore l’un des dirigeants français les plus influents de l’histoire.
La face de cette monnaie représente Charles de Gaulle grâce à deux gravures de son profil. Ces deux gravures commémorent deux facettes importantes de sa vie: sa carrière militaire et sa carrière politique. La croix de Lorraine, représentant la liberté et l’unification de la France, figure également sur la face de la monnaie. Cette croix fut directement associée au Général de Gaulle et fut également érigée à son mémorial situé à Colombey-les-Deux-Églises.
Cette monnaie est disponible dans deux cartelettes différentes. L'une rend hommage à la personnalité de Charles de Gaulle, présentée ici, l'autre commémore les 80 ans de l'appel du 18 juin.

To mark the 80th anniversary of the June 18, 1940 appeal, the 130th anniversary of Charles de Gaulle's birth, and the 50th anniversary of his death, this coin commemorates one of the most influential French leaders in history. The obverse of this coin depicts Charles de Gaulle with two engravings of his profile. These two engravings commemorate two important aspects of his life: his military career and his political career. The Cross of Lorraine, representing the liberty and unification of France, also appears on the obverse of the coin. This cross was directly associated with General de Gaulle and was also erected at his memorial in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises. This coin is available in two different cardstocks. One pays tribute to the personality of Charles de Gaulle, shown here, while the other commemorates the 80th anniversary of the June 18 appeal.
