Cette famille est surtout connue par le fils de notre personnage dont Larousse dit : Charles De Wailly ou Charles Dewailly Architecte, décorateur et peintre français (Paris 1730-Paris 1798). Formé à Paris et en Italie, doué d'un talent multiforme qui ne se limite pas à la rigueur néoclassique, auteur de travaux et projets divers pour la France et pour l'étranger (Russie…), il est surtout célèbre pour son théâtre devenu l'Odéon, à Paris (1767-1782), conçu en collaboration avec M.-J. Peyre..
