Si l’on en croit - et il n’y a pas raison de ne pas les croire - les documents d’archives sur les familles parisiennes mis en ligne à http://www.famillesparisiennes.org/public/orsel/sorin-actes.html car les dates se situent vers le début du XVIIIe siècle, comme notre jeton, on constate que ce jeton n’est pas d’une personne mais d’une famille. On y trouve François-Thomas Sorin, député et consul du commerce de Paris, qui habite rue St Martin, paroisse St Merry, Pierre Sorin marchand épicier à Paris, François Barraud, marchand joaillier de Paris et Claude-Françoise Sorin, son épouse, habitant quai de l'Horloge... et bien d’autres,et, selon la formule consacrée, rien que du beau monde.

CORPORATIONS - LES SIX CORPS DES MARCHANDS DE PARIS
A Roma esistevano già gruppi di artigiani: formare un collegio posto sotto la protezione di una divinità, con casa comune e fondo. Nell'Europa medievale, probabilmente da confraternite religiose, si formarono gruppi economici tra mercanti chiamati hanse o ghilde.. Con lo sviluppo del commercio, gli artigiani si organizzarono in enti o comunità di mestiere che riunivano tutti coloro che esercitavano la stessa professione: maestri, garzoni o apprendisti.. Per entrare nel corpo bisognava "giurare" la professione. Accanto c'erano le libere professioni che potevano essere esercitate da tutti.. Ogni corpo era diretto da una direzione collegiale incaricata di far rispettare le regole del commercio, proteggere il commercio dalla concorrenza e dirigere la società di mutuo soccorso.. Alla fine del XVII secolo, il re iniziò a vendere le funzioni di giurati e fiduciari aziendali come cariche ereditarie, il che portò a gravi difficoltà finanziarie in un momento in cui le corporazioni non soddisfacevano più le nuove esigenze economiche dello sviluppo dell'industria e degli affari concentrazione. È anche in Inghilterra che le corporazioni sono scomparse spontaneamente a causa della rivoluzione industriale.. Le corporazioni saranno abolite in Francia nel 1791 dall'Assemblea Costituente.
