Trois pièces furent fabriquées pour la Grande Comore en l’an 1380 de l’hégire (1890) par l'atelier de Paris : 5 et 10 centimes et 5 francs. Ces pièces circulèrent jusqu'en 1912. Les pièces de 5 et 10 Centimes existent en deux variétés, avec les différents faisceau ou torche, ces dernières ayant été fabriquées en 1901.

COMORE
L'arcipelago delle Comore forma un gruppo di isole situate a sud-est dell'Africa, a est della Tanzania ea nord-ovest del Madagascar. Queste isole sono condivise tra un paese indipendente, l'Unione delle Comore, e Mayotte, una collettività francese d'oltremare. Nel 1946, le isole non sono più amministrativamente annesse al Madagascar e formano per la prima volta nella loro storia un'entità amministrativa unita e riconosciuta (TOM). Dopo l'indipendenza dei paesi africani negli anni '60, un certo numero di intellettuali iniziò a chiedere l'indipendenza. Il Paese la ottenne il 6 luglio 1975 ma rivendicò la sovranità di Mayotte, cioè dell'intero arcipelago delle Comore..
