Commento
Il est très difficile de démêler les fils de l’écheveau des monnayages du Norique au IIe et Ier siècles avant J.-C. Cette complexité est renforcée par les modifications géographiques importantes connues par l’ancien empire austro-hongrois depuis la première Guerre mondiale. Les changements intervenus depuis maintenant plus de dix ans avec l’éclatement de l’ancien bloc soviétique ont encore modifié cet état de fait.

Secondo l'opera di W. Kruta, si può affermare che il regno del Norico si costituì durante la metà del II secolo aC, nel territorio dell'attuale Carinzia. Insieme ai Boii di Pannonia e ai Taurisci formavano certamente un regno potente, a nord-est dell'Italia e costituivano una delle principali formazioni celtiche alle porte delle Alpi. Questa entità conobbe la sua massima espansione nel I secolo aC e si estese fino al Danubio nella parte orientale delle Alpi. La conquista intrapresa da Augusto non fu completata fino a Tiberio e Druso.
