Commento

Cet exemplaire a été montré à Michel Dhénin en 2007. D’après son analyse, la légende du droit doit s’interpréter comme Carovillo et au revers, le nom du monétaire doit se lire Avitus monétaire, le I final serait le reste du M pour monétaire. Pour Carovillon, deux monétaires étaient connus, Censulfus et Teodericus (Beflort, n° 1420-1422). Belfort pense que Carovillo est Carville dans les Deux-Sèvres. Lafaurie ne remet pas en cause cette attribution, toutefois il existe deux autres Carville, l’un en Seinte-Maritime et l’autre dans le Calvados.
This example was shown to Michel Dhénin in 2007. According to his analysis, the legend on the obverse should be interpreted as Carovillo and on the reverse, the name of the mint should read Avitus monétaire, the final I would be the remainder of the M for monétaire. For Carovillon, two mints were known, Censulfus and Teodericus (Beflort, no. 1420-1422). Belfort thinks that Carovillo is Carville in Deux-Sèvres. Lafaurie does not dispute this attribution, however there are two other Carvilles, one in Seinte-Maritime and the other in Calvados
