Exemplaire sur un flan large, épais et ovale, un peu court sur les légendes. Droit inhabituel. Joli revers. Jolie patine vert noir, légèrement granuleuse

Sauromates I successe nel 90 a suo padre Rheskuporis I che, come lui, porta i nomi di Tiberios Julios (per Tiberio Giulio) mentre suo nonno, Kotys I (45-63) aveva portato i soprannomi di Tiberios Claudios (per l'imperatore Claudio) , poi Neronos Claudios (in onore di Nerone). Il regno del Bosforo fu annesso dai Romani tra il 63 e il 68. Fu restituito da Vespasiano nel 68 in favore di Rheskuporis I (69-93). Sauromate I regnò sotto gli imperatori Domiziano (81-96), Nerva (96-98), Traiano (97-117) e Adriano (117-138). Alla sua morte gli succedette Kotys II (123-133)..
