Commento
The medal is kept in a brown leather case (probably not original) from the jeweler E. Morgan in Nice and Paris. Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux was a sculptor born in 1827 and died in 1875. His sculpted group “The Dance,” on the façade of the Opéra Garnier, caused a scandal due to the realism of the female nudes, and a bottle of ink was thrown at the sculpture. The original is now in the Musée d'Orsay.
