Commento
Medal awarded to Luna, a Newfoundland dog belonging to Mr. Lucien Scordel. The Société Centrale Canine (for the improvement of breeds) was founded in 1881 as a non-profit association (under the 1901 law), approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. The Société Centrale Canine aims to promote dog breeds in France, as well as to promote and protect the various roles of dogs in society. A dog show (or canine competition) is primarily a beauty contest during which breeders and individuals present their purebred dogs to a jury. Unlike a working trial that judges a dog's abilities (herding, hunting, agility, etc.), a dog show judges a dog's aesthetic qualities and its conformity to the breed standard.
