L'aqueduc ne sert qu'à porter les eaux qui coulent sans cesse et ne s'y arrestent jamais Le Trésor royal de mesme est le lieu par où passent continuellement les revenus du Roy, qui sont incessamment employez aux besoins de l'Etat et pour les récompenses des bons sujets de sa Majesté" (Mercure Galant, janvier 1681).
