Lancé en 1906 et le plus grand paquebot français de l’époque, il fut le premier a être équipé de la radio, alors appelée télépgraphie sans fil. La ferrovia da Parigi a Saint-Germain, inaugurata il 24 agosto 1837, è all'origine della rete ferroviaria occidentale sin dalla legge del 9 luglio 1835. Una delle locomotive utilizzate è una Seguin, modello 1829, la prima fumogena francese locomotiva a tubo. La Western Railway Company fu liquidata nel 1909 per far parte della rete statale. Il 31 agosto 1937, la fusione forzata delle cinque società concessionarie, Nord, Est, Parigi-Orléans, PLM, Stato, Alsazia Lorena diede vita alla SNCF.
