Le droit est bien l’ancre dans cette série et pas la tête de méduse. Au droit, le mollusque, décrit comme une écrevisse, est incertain. Sur cet exemplaire, tous le détails composant la tête de Méduse sont bien visibles ainsi que les serpents qui sortent de la chevelure.

Apollonia Pontica, situata sul Pont-Euxin, era una colonia milesia. La città era famosa per il suo tempio di Apollo e la sua colossale statua, opera di Kalamis. Quando Lucullo conquistò la città nel 73 a.C., fece trasportare la statua del dio a Roma.
