Commento
François de La Rocque (known as de Séverac), commonly known as Colonel de La Rocque, born October 6, 1885 in Lorient and died April 28, 1946 in Paris, was a French soldier, politician, and resistance fighter. In the 1930s, he was a leading political figure as President General of the Croix-de-Feu and then of the French Social Party. The Croix-de-Feu Association or Association of Combatants of the Front and War Wounded Mentioned for Brilliant Action (1927-1936) was a league of French nationalist veterans, led by Colonel François de La Rocque. This association is considered an expression of French fascism by its opponents and Anglo-Saxon historians, but this assessment is contradicted by the majority of current French historians. The Croix-de-Feu association was dissolved in 1936, giving birth to the French Social Party (1936-1940), the largest mass party of the French right.
