Exemplaire sur un petit flan ovale irrégulier et éclaté bien centré avec le grènetis visible. Magnifique tête d’Héraklès finement détaillée. Joli revers de style fin. Belle patine vert olive

Si G. Buceti a recensé vingt-et-un exemplaires pour ce type avec des poids répartis entre 1,62 g et 2,73 g, il semble néanmoins beaucoup plus rare que ne le laissent supposer les ouvrages généraux.

Cronistoria

(IV - III secolo a.C.)
La fortezza di Cephaloedium si trovava sulla costa non lontano da Imera. Sicuramente di popolazione mista, sicle e greca, la città entrò nella storia quando Imilcone, generale cartaginese, firmò un trattato con Himère e Cephaloedium in vista della presa di Siracusa. I Cartaginesi furono schiacciati dalle forze di Dionisio il Vecchio. Con l'aiuto di Agrigento, Cephaloedium rimase indipendente fino al 307 quando Agatocle conquistò la città. Durante la prima guerra punica, Cephaloedium era sotto l'influenza cartaginese. La città si arrese nel 254 a.C., divenne poi tributaria e fu vittima delle prevaricazioni di Verre quando governava la Sicilia.
