Droit avec le cou et l’arrière de la tête pour la première empreinte et le haut de la tête sur la seconde. Revers en creux avec le bas de la tête. Patine foncée et brillante de collection ancienne

Techniquemetn, ce denier est doublement intéressant ; le droit présent un coin à empreintes multiples (au mloins deux) et le revers est incus ùontrant un grènetis et la partie inférieure du portrait qui est hors flan au droit... Au revers, on devine même le bord de l’exemplaire qui s’est trouvé entre le coin et le flan lors de la frappe du denier proposé ici.
Technically, this coin is doubly interesting; the obverse has a die with multiple impressions (at least two) and the reverse is incused, showing a beading and the lower part of the portrait which is off the flan on the obverse... On the reverse, we can even guess the edge of the copy which was found between the die and the flan when the coin offered here was struck.

GALLIA BELGICA SEQUANI (Regione di Besançon)
(II - I secolo a.C.)
I Séquanes erano uno dei popoli più importanti della Gallia orientale. Erano i nemici degli Edui, loro vicini. Il loro territorio era molto vasto e si estendeva tra la Saona, il Rodano, il Giura ei Vosgi. I laghi del Giura li separavano dagli Elvezi. Erano stati molto potenti nel III e II secolo aC, ma avevano perso il loro lustro dopo che i Germani avevano occupato parte del loro territorio intorno al 70 aC I loro vicini erano i Leuchi, i Lingoni, gli Edui e gli Elvezi. Il loro oppidum principale era Vesontio (Besançon). Citati più volte da Cesare, durante la campagna del 52 aC, fornirono un contingente di 12.000 uomini per l'esercito di soccorso. Cesare (BG. I, 1-3, 6, 8-10, 12, 19, 31-33, 35, 38, 40, 44, 48, 54; IV, 10; VI, 12; VII, 66, 67, 75, 90). Kruta: 16, 71, 111, 364.
