Un denier de ce type avec la légende CAPAS nous avait fait l’attribuer à Cheppes (Marnes) ; cf. bmv_287944.
D’un type comparable, mais avec le monogramme édiculaire au droit comme au revers, cet exemplaire présente malheureuseent des légendes hors flan. Si son attribution est complexe, il est cohérent de proposer une origine dans la Marne.
Dans son récent ouvrage sur la circulation monétaire en Touraine, P. Schiesser recense 14 monnaies sous l’appellation de “Génillé”, avec le denier de Troyes pour FREDEBERTVS en prototype.

Alla fine del IV secolo, Sens era la capitale della IV Lyonnaise. Questo distretto civile funge da cornice per la Chiesa per la fondazione dell'arcidiocesi di Sens. Nel 732, i Mori sbarcati in Camargue risalgono l'intera Valle del Rodano e saccheggiano la città di Sens. Questa operazione è vista come un tentativo di diversivo, al fine di dividere le forze franche per affrontare l'anno della battaglia di Poitiers..
