Le denier qui a fait son apparition en 211 avant J.-C. est largement imité par les peuples de la vallée du Rhône sur leurs deniers (LT. 5715-5943), monnayage générique plus connu sous le nom d’imitations du type des Dioscures.

Nel 148 aC, Sp. Postumius Albinus Magnus e L. Calpurnius Piso Cæsonius erano consoli. La terza guerra punica iniziò l'anno precedente. Catone il Vecchio morì prima che il suo sogno di distruggere Cartagine diventasse realtà. Nel 148 il console Calpurnio Pisone continuò l'assedio della metropoli africana, mentre Andrisco, che si diceva figlio di Perseo, fu sconfitto in Macedonia da Q Cecilio Metello che prese il soprannome di Macedone.
