Commento

Cette tête diadémée avec une croix devant la bouche, se retrouve sur de rares deniers ayant au revers CCC, CCL ou CCE et dans la partie inférieure une croix, un O carré (monogramme AV) et une sorte d’ove interprétée comme un O ou un D (?) (Belfort 6679 ; Prou, 2803). Dans un article de juin 1978, Jean Lafaurie interprète la légende supérieur CCC par Sanctus et la légende inférieure par Auduoenus, pour Saint-Ouen de Rouen. Le revers de ce denier est constitué par une croix contenue dans une volute. En raison du style de la tête, nous pouvons rattaché ce denier à ceux supposés avoir été frappés à Saint-Ouen de Rouen. Toutefois, une attribution à Poitiers peut également être retenue en raison de la croix dans une anille se trouvant au revers. En effet, un denier de cette ville présente également ce motif (cf. CGB, bmv_640102).
This diademed head with a cross in front of the mouth is found on rare denarii with CCC, CCL or CCE on the reverse and in the lower part a cross, a square O (monogram AV) and a sort of ove interpreted as an O or a D (?)
