Monnaie sur un flan rond, un peu court. Droit et revers bien centrés et d'une frappe vigoureuse. Manque le profil du visage et une partie des 2e et 4e cantons. Aspect légèrement poreux au revers

Descrittivo rovescio : Croix bouletée, divisée en quatre cantons : feuille aquatique aux 1er 2e et 4e cantons, hache bouletée au 3e canton.
Commento
Cette drachme classée dans les monnaies à la croix n'est pas frappée selon les techniques habituelles du bandeau puis découpées ultérieurement. Comme pour la monnaie BN. 3463 qui illustre le Savès, variété 2 "flan rond", cette monnaie a été frappée sur un flan rond préparé avant la frappe. Monnaie très proche du n° 58 du musée de Péronne.

GALLIA - SUDOVESTE DELLA GALLIA - RUTENI (Regione di Rodez)

Vicini degli Arvernes, dei Cadurques e dei Gabales, il loro territorio corrispondeva all'ex Rouergue (attuale dipartimento dell'Aveyron) a nord del Tarn, il cui corso costituiva il confine con la provincia di Narbonnaise. I Rutenes, alleati degli Arvernes, avevano partecipato alle operazioni che portarono alla sconfitta di Bituit, re degli Arvernes nel 121 aC e alla creazione della provincia di Narbonnaise. In questa occasione i Rutene si erano trovati tagliati in due, seguendo il confine naturale del Tarn. Attivi nella coalizione contro i romani nel 52 a.C., fornirono all'esercito di soccorso un contingente di 12.000 uomini. Fonti: Cesare (BG. I, 45; VII, 5, 64, 75 e 90).
