Commenti sullo stato di conservazione:

Superbe drachme frappée sur un flan relativement large, avec un revers complet et un bel avers mais légèrement décentré sur la gauche. Agréable patine grise et homogène, avec une petite gangue superficielle au droit sur la joue

Titolatura diritto : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Descrittivo diritto : Tête à droite, la chevelure formée de grosses mèches aquitaniques.

Rovescio

Titolatura rovescio : ANÉPIGRAPHE.

Descrittivo rovescio : Cavalier tenant un bouclier et les rênes galopant à droite ; sous le cheval, une main fermée.

Commento

Selon la RN 1996, ce type au cavalier et au bouclier appartient à la série P II B. Cette tête aquitanique sans collier au droit et sans la croisette sur la joue, associée à un revers à la main est très rare. C’est le premier que nous proposons à la vente. Dix exemplaires ont été étudiés par C. Sarthre dans la RN 1996.

L'attribution proposée dans le Nouvel Atlas est aux Bituriges, de même que les drachmes dites "au cavalier ailé des Pictons". Si l'attribution aux Pictons n'est pas totalement satisfaisante pour ces drachmes "au cavalier et bouclier", tout attribuer aux Bituriges nous semble assez arbitraire….
According to the RN 1996, this type with a rider and shield belongs to the P II B series. This Aquitanian head without a collar on the right and without the cross on the cheek, associated with a lapel in the hand is very rare. This is the first one we are offering for sale. Ten examples were studied by C. Sarthre in the RN 1996. The attribution proposed in the New Atlas is to the Bituriges, as are the drachmas called \\\"with the winged rider of the Pictons\\\". If the attribution to the Pictons is not entirely satisfactory for these drachmas \\\"with the rider and shield\\\", attributing everything to the Bituriges seems rather arbitrary to us...
