Descrittivo diritto : Archer barbu (Le Grand Roi) à demi agenouillé courant à droite, couronné (cidaris), tenant une lance de la main droite et un arc de la gauche ; un carquois rempli de flèches sur l’épaule ; ligne d’exergue.

Ce type de darique est souvent usé et a circulé pendant plus d’un siècle. C’est le premier multiple en or frappé en quantité très importante. Ce type est souvent attribué à Darius Ier (521-486 avant J.-C.) ou à Xerxès (486-465 avant J.-C.). Pour cet exemplaire, une attribution à Artaxerxès II (465-425 avant J.-C.) est probable.

La dinastia achemenide durerà due secoli (559-330 dC) e segnerà a lungo l'Asia Minore. Ciro, il fondatore, strappa Babilonia e Lidia a Creso. Suo figlio Cambise conquistò l'Egitto nel 525 aC Dario I gli succedette (521-486 dC) e iniziò le guerre persiane contro la ribelle Asia Minore, poi contro Atene, che aveva sostenuto gli insorti. Fu sconfitto a Maratona nel 490 CA. Suo figlio Serse (486-465 dC) continuò la sua politica, ma fu sconfitto a Salamina ea Platea. È la fine del sogno egemonico persiano. La dinastia si estinse con Dario III Codomano (339-330 d.C.) sconfitto da Alessandro che, per tre secoli, impose l'ellenismo fino all'India.
