In Inca mythology, the Inti is the sun deity. The Inti was introduced on February 1, 1985, replacing the Sol de Oro, based on 1 Inti = 1,000 Soles de Oro. In a context of hyperinflation and an inflated money supply, the Inti was in turn replaced on July 1, 1991, by the Nuevo Sol, based on 1 Nuevo Sol = 1,000,000 Intis.
