Marie-Thérèse (13/05/1717-29/11/1780) è la figlia dell'imperatore Carlo VI che modificò l'ordine di devoluzione della discendenza in modo che sua figlia potesse ereditare la corona. Sposando Francesco III di Lorena (1708-1765) nel 1736, divenne regina di Boemia e Ungheria alla morte del padre nel 1740, e suo marito, Francesco Ier, imperatore del Sacro Romano Impero dal 1745. Dopo la morte del marito, suo figlio Giuseppe II divenne imperatore ma l'imperatrice mantenne i suoi poteri fino alla sua morte nel 1780, soprattutto nei Paesi Bassi austriaci.
