Commento
After the death of Emperor Charles VI in 1740, his daughter Maria Theresa succeeded him amid disputes. This succession, which could have remained an inter-German conflict, served as a trigger for a European confrontation that had been latent for several years. France therefore intended to protect itself in all its parts by forming the Nymphenburg Coalition with Spain, Piedmont, Saxony, Bavaria, and Prussia.
