Commento
The recipient of this award was a local hero for Lille, see http://harmoniemunicipalelille. over-blog. fr/article-33805957-6. html: HISTORY OF THE MUNICIPAL HARMONY OF LILLE Founded on April 11, 1834, our society received the name of Municipal Harmony of Firefighters. Its first leader was M. Louis SPRING.
Three years later, in 1837, the company achieved its first successes in Armentières.. Then, under the direction of the leaders who succeeded one another: MM. SIMONI, BENARD, BOURELLE, BRISY, she was able to continue a rapid rise.
In 1846, at the DOUAI competition, its 77 musicians all won first prizes..
On June 20, 1853, at the FONTAINEBLEAU competition, she triumphed over the music of Saxony, conducted by M. MOOHR, leader of the Emperor's Guides.
A decree from the Minister of the Interior, dated February 9, 1877, then decided that music would no longer count in the strength of the Fire Brigade Battalion and that its leader would henceforth have the rank of Lieutenant..
M. BRISY suffering in 1912, the management was entrusted to M. Paul LAIGRE.
Then came the war of 1914.
Finally the hour of deliverance came. On the very day of the Allies' entry into LILLE, at 3 p.m., in the main courtyard of the Prefecture, the Municipal Harmony, directed by Paul LAIGRE, performed \\\"La Marseillaise\\\" in front of a delirious crowd.. The next day, the Harmony was still heard at the reception of General BIRWOOD who had liberated LILLE at the head of the British troops..
On Saturday, October 19, at 9 a.m., Mr.. Georges CLEMENCEAU expressed to M. the Prefect of the North his satisfaction after hearing our music: The first, he said, that he had heard in reconquered country.
By decree of the Mayor of Lille, dated December 29, 1923, its title of \\\"Municipal Music\\\" was officially confirmed as of January 1, 1924..
Mr. Paul LAIGRE, having reached retirement age in 1935, the management was entrusted for a few months to Mr.. Charles PORTEBOIS, Sous-Chef until the arrival of M. Ferdinand CAPELLE, appointed conductor in 1936.
Note that, although it is undoubtedly a corner inspired by the one signed A. LECOMTE IN LILLE, this token no longer bears his signature
