Contrairement aux monnaies de 50 Centimes françaises qui ont été frappées en 1962, 1963 et 1965, il s’agit de la seule année de frappe pour ce type. Selon V. Gadoury, ces monnaies sont plus difficiles à trouver. Leur émission a commencé le 12 août 1963 et elles ont été démonétisées le 1er novembre 1965..
