Exemplaire sur un flan très large et complet des deux côtés. Portrait magnifique. Revers bien venu à la frappe de style fin. Jolie patine superficielle avec des reflets dorés, légèrement tachée au revers

Commento
Ce type de tétradrachme, d’étalon attique est beaucoup plus rare que les tétradrachmes d’étalon rhodien. Dans le trésor macédonien de 1990, enfoui vers 170 avant J.-C. et qui aurait contenu une vingtaine de tétradrachmes, il y avait quatorze pièces lourdes pour dix variétés, mais aucune de notre type.

Cronistoria

Perseo, primogenito di Filippo V (221-179 dC), succedette al padre e fu l'ultimo re di Macedonia. Dopo un inizio promettente del suo regno, Perseo entrò in conflitto con i Romani, che, dalla battaglia di Cynoscephali nel 197 a.C., avevano controllato la Grecia. Il conflitto con i macedoni fu breve, ma violento. I Romani invasero la Macedonia e schiacciarono Perseo nella doppia battaglia di Pidna nel 168 a.C.. Sconfitto da Paul-Émile, Perseo fu portato a Roma con i suoi due figli, partecipò al Trionfo del suo conquistatore e morì due anni dopo prigioniero in Italia (vedi denier de la gens Æmilia n°10, coniato nel 62 a.C. e che commemora questo evento).
