Commento

Alain Brandon publie deux jetons de ce type pour Auxerre et Alais. Il les considère excessivement rares, ce qui s'explique par leur titulature mentionnant le Roi. Notre exemplaire montre que ce jeton existait pour Caen et qu'il fut "recyclé" en bouton d'uniforme.
Alain Libaud nous complète ces informations : il s'agit d'un bouton d'uniforme de gardes nationaux du Calvados district de Caen. Le modèle ne mentionne pas "LA NATION" , mais uniquement "LA LOI ET LE ROI ". Ce modèle est du 2ème type, 2ème décret du 5 septembre 1790. Là encore l'attache du revers a disparu et pour le réutiliser l'usager l'a percé de deux trous permettant de le fixer. Donc ce n'est pas un jeton. (voir troupes bourgeoises et irrégulières pages 227 figure 15, ce modèle ) On raconte que nombres de gardes nationaux rayèrent le mot "roi" sur leurs boutons lorsqu'ils eurent appris la fuite de Louis XVI en son arrestation à Varennes.
