Commento
Techniquement la gravure n’est pas optimale et nous devons l’attribuer à Nuremberg même si le style est bien meilleur que les productions standards de l’atelier allemand. Les lettres de la légende ne sont pas faites au poinçon mais gravées manuellement et sont irrégulières. On peut penser qu’il s’agit d’une production privée et il est certain que le jeton n’est pas en argent malgré une surface parfaite. L’argenture est parfaitement d’époque et l’on doit constater que la révolution n’était guère populaire outre-Rhin.

The letters of the legend are not made with a punch but manually engraved and are irregular. One can assume that it is a private production and it is certain that the token is not made of silver despite a perfect surface. The silvering is perfectly contemporary and it must be noted that the revolution was hardly popular across the Rhine

Dopo le giornate del 5 e 6 ottobre 1789, i parigini riportarono da Versailles a Parigi "il fornaio, il fornaio e il piccolo fornaio" (famiglia reale) che si stabilirono alle Tuileries. Il 2 novembre 1789 i beni della Chiesa furono nazionalizzati. Il regno è diviso in 83 dipartimenti a dicembre. Il 17 aprile 1790 l'assegnatario divenne cartamoneta e divenne corso legale, poi forzato da settembre. I beni del clero sono messi in vendita come "beni nazionali". Il 19 giugno vengono aboliti titoli e nobiltà. Il 12 luglio si vota la Costituzione civile del clero. La Festa della Federazione, il 14 luglio, sembra segnare la fine della Rivoluzione e simboleggia ciò che unisce il Re, il regno e il popolo. Mirabeau morì il 12 aprile 1791. L'approvazione della legge Le Chapelier proibì corporazioni, associazioni e unioni professionali e soppresse il diritto di sciopero. Il re fu arrestato a Varennes il 22 giugno mentre cercava di scappare. La Fayette fece licenziare la folla al Champ de Mars il 17 luglio 1791. Il 3 settembre l'Assemblea legislativa sostituì l'Assemblea costituente, che si separò. Il Re presta giuramento alla Nazione.
