Le bec-à-corbin était une hallebarde permettant non seulement de pointer l'ennemi mais encore de l'agripper. Une compagnie des gendarmes du roi était équipée de ces hallebardes. Le revers fait allusion à la défaite des anglais devant La Rochelle, siège où d'Andilly accompagna le roi.
