Ce denier est frappé sur un flan assez large et irrégulier. Exemplaire recouvert d’une patine grise de médaillier. La croix du revers apparaît en négatif au droit

LANGRES - ÉVÊCHE DE LANGRES - ANONYMES. Immobilisation au nom de Louis IV d'Outremer
Langres, sede vescovile dal III secolo, aveva ricevuto il diritto di coniare monete da Carlo II il Calvo nell'874, diritto successivamente confermato da Carlo il Grosso nell'887 e da Eudes di Francia nell'889. La zecca sembra essere stata attiva sotto Luigi IV d'Outremer, il cui tipo fu probabilmente immobilizzato e poi imitato. Il denario nel nome di Luigi, re, è un adattamento del tipo carolingio. I vescovi coniati a loro nome dalla seconda metà del XII secolo, come Guido I di Rochefort (1250-1268).
